Royal Jelly, What is it?

What is Royal Jelly

WHAT IS ROYAL JELLY? The honeybee has been one of the greatest friends to mankind for thousands of years, providing honey, bee venom, royal jelly, pollen, propolis, and wax. Royal Jelly is a thick, milky food made from pollen and honey, collected and chewed by young worker honeybees, secreted from their pharyngeal glands. The primary reason is to feed the Queen in order for her to remain as healthy as possible and to produce so many eggs.

THE MIRACLE OF ROYAL JELLY: The great nutritional significance of Royal Jelly is the fact that anatomical and functional differentiation of the female larvae is totally dependent upon the nature of their diet in their early developmental stage. In the larvae stage, they are absolutely identical and feed on Royal jelly for the first three days after hatching. The fertilized eggs give rise to females which are either sexually immature small worker bees or large, fertile Queens. From the fourth day on, only the special larvae selected to become the Queen continues to be fed with Royal Jelly throughout her entire life, while the worker bees are fed on regular honey and pollen. The fascinating discovery by scientists was that nutrition was the only distinctive difference between the worker bees and the Queen. The queen bee is the mother of a quarter of a million bees, and amazingly lays over 2,000 eggs in a single day, a total more than twice her own weight. The lifespan of the Queen Bee is almost five years, compared to the considerably shorter life of the worker honeybee which can be as short as 6 weeks, depending on the season and how hard they are working. Royal jelly is truly a miracle food.

THE PURE, NATURAL FOOD-ROYAL JELLY: In the world of bees, they have amazing ability to communicate with each other. The worker bees direct one another to the sources of honey and pollen which have been uncontaminated by agricultural chemicals. Their instincts are so highly developed that they naturally avoid harmfulness. Therefore Royal Jelly is a safe, pure, natural food indeed.

COMPOSITION OF ROYAL JELLY: Research studies show that Royal Jelly contains vitamins A, B1,B2, B6, B12, D, E, Folic acid, Nicotinamide, Pantothenic acid, Minerals and 17 kinds of Amino acids. Royal jelly contains acetyl choline, enzymes, 10-Hydroxy-Decenoic acid which was found by Dr. Butanandt of Germany. The unusual nature of Royal Jelly has prompted many investigations into its chemical nature and pharmaceutical properties. But the mystery of this food has yet to be completed.

MORE ON ROYAL JELLY POWER: Detailed printed information on the only food the queen bee ever consumes is not easy to find, but the best single popular volume is the book which has sold more than half a million in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish: Doctor Yves Donadieu, "Royal Jelly in Natural Therapeutics". The author who is a medical doctor practicing in Paris and specializing in "natural therapeutics" (curing disease without the use of manufactured medicines or drugs), or what D.C. Jarvis, M.D., calls "Vermont folk medicine. Here are some of his ideas: Royal Jelly is completely harmless to man unlike most medicines that have toxic side effects; through its "many nutritive, metabolic and energetic assets", it activates enzymes in the body, increases resistance to colds, decreases nervousness, increases appetite, removes depression, favors the production of red blood cells, facilitates digestion, eases rheumatic pain and finally possesses antibiotic and antiviral properties. According to the man from France the best form to take it is fresh, His average dose for an adult is the following prescription: "Every morning before breakfast for 6 weeks, take the equivalent of 500 mgs (about ΒΌ of a teaspoon) of fresh Royal Jelly and let it melt under the tongue. Two to three treatments a year in propitious periods, depending upon the individual, should be undertaken. The family doctor is the best judge". Treatment, he states, "should never be less than one month in order to obtain satisfactory results." Now, he is speaking for Europe where royal jelly is used as a medicine. In the United States it is not so registered and can only be used as dietary supplement.
