I started working with Karen Gifford and Gifford’s Beekeeping back
in 2000. I was fascinated with the honeybee and how the products of the hive
could help a person lead a healthier lifestyle. The products of the hive
consist of raw honey, beeswax, bee pollen, propolis, royal jelly and bee venom.
Each component has a place in helping you feel better.
When Gifford’s Beekeeping came up for sale, in January of 2003, I
purchased the company, including all the raw honey in stock, I did not however
purchase any honeybees at that time. So I was selling the products of the hive
but not working with the bees directly. After having the business a few months,
I joined the American Apitherapy Society and attend my first conference in Los
Angeles, CA. There I learned more about the products of the hive as well as becoming
trained in the art of Bee Sting Therapy (BVT) for health related problems due
to auto immune imbalances, multiple sclerosis, pain, sprains and I learned many
more ways bee venom can help your body when administered along with the
products of the hive, raw honey, royal jelly, propolis, bee pollen and bees
wax. I was elected secretary of the board of directors for American Apitherapy
Society July 2003. I served on the board for a couple years as secretary and a
couple more years just as a board member. I gained more knowledge in the use of
the products of the hive.
Although I am trained in the use of BVT I do not perform the sting
therapy as much anymore, I do consulting on a case by case basis and sell all
the items needed to learn how to sting, I am coaching many people on how to
sting, when to sting and how to expect to feel while you are stinging. I sell
the products of the hive along with books, videos, tweezers, and a bee condo so
a person can learn to sting themselves.
I now have a few hives here on my little farm in Eastern Oregon,
as we all like to watch them work and the honey is so yummy. The grandkids even
like to sit in Nana’s Bee Garden and watch the bees on a warm summer
afternoon when they are so busy.
